The Copyright Laws & Policies section will define the basics of the copyright laws and policies affecting faculty, staff, and students at Truman State University.
All U.S. laws and policies on copyright are collectively covered in U.S. Code Title 17. However this section will also reference specific parts of Title 17 by the better known names of the acts in which they were passed. Such policies include the Copyright Act of 1976, the Fair Use Doctrine, the Technology, Education, and Copyright Harmonization Act (TEACH Act), and the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
Resources of note in this section are the Fair Use Checklist and the TEACH Act Checklist, which are required documentation when using copyrighted material for educational purposes.
